As the term wraps up, things don’t seem to be slowing down!
Last week Jenny Woods and I attended the Pride in Schools event, it was a fabulous day where students from all Ballarat secondary schools. This was a particularly proud moment for us at Woodmans Hill Secondary College as two of our Woodmans Hill alumni, Ruth Carter and Ash Crawford hosted the event. Ruth and Ash welcomed students and staff to the event and then hosted workshops throughout the day. It was great to catch up with them both and hear about all of their amazing adventures and what they are up-to post Woodmans Hill school life.
Last week our Year 10 cohort completed their Live4Life Youth Mental health first aid training.
Students have worked with our school facilitators, Megan Matthews, Jess Hollands, Claire Blower and Ash Giblin across a 3 week period, learning how to check in on a friend and what to do when they need support. Students will be celebrating their success this Wednesday with an awards celebration and pizza lunch. Well done to everyone involved.
This week our School Captains are holding student voice feedback sessions with each of our year levels, focusing on capturing their voice and further information from the earlier completed Students Attitudes to School Survey. The aim of the feedback sessions is to gain further insight from students on key areas identified from the data.
Parent Opinion Survey – Your opinion matters!
A REMINDER: Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation. Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.
