Art Department Report 

It has been a busy and exciting time across the Arts! 

Year 10 VCD students are currently refining their designs for the 2027 Ballarat Marathon finisher medal. This is a fantastic real-world design project, giving students the opportunity to respond to an authentic client and audience while developing their skills in research, ideation, refinement and presentation. Even more excitingly, one student design will be selected to become the official medal design for next year’s Ballarat Marathon! We can’t wait to see which design is chosen. 

Our Year 12 VCE Art Making and Exhibiting students are also reaching an important milestone, with their final artworks due this week. Students will then present their work and participate in a critique with their peers, receiving valuable feedback as they reflect on and refine their practice. During the upcoming holidays, students will also complete a practice examination to help prepare them for their end-of-year VCE examination. 

Meanwhile, our junior Arts students have been exploring the principles of perspective and how these can be applied to architecture and interior design. Students are developing their understanding of spatial depth and proportion while experimenting with ways to represent three-dimensional spaces on a two-dimensional surface. 

As we head towards the end of term, we would like to congratulate our students on their hard work and creativity throughout the semester. We are looking forward to the upcoming holidays and a well-deserved break before another busy and exciting term in the Arts!
