Year 11 Report

Kirstie Smith

It has been another busy few weeks for our Year 11 students, with plenty happening both inside and outside the classroom as we head towards the end of Term 3.

One of our highlights was our recent Pat Cronin Foundation presentation, where students heard Pat’s story and explored the impact that anger, violence and the choices we make can have on ourselves and others.

Students were encouraged to recognise anger within their own bodies, consider appropriate ways to respond and think about how seemingly small choices can have significant consequences. We were incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to hear such an important and powerful message.

We also celebrated Book Week, with plenty of students and staff getting involved in our Dress-up Day.

On the same day, our Year 11 VCE VM Literacy students put their persuasive skills into action, presenting excursion proposals to their peers and attempting to convince the group that their excursion should receive the winning vote. It was fantastic to see students speaking in front of their peers and putting the skills they have been developing in class into practice.

As always, we have continued to celebrate the many successes happening across Year 11. We know that success looks different for every student, and we are proud to recognise improvements in learning, attendance, engagement, effort and the positive contributions students make to our school community.

Looking ahead

With Term 4 quickly approaching, our attention is beginning to turn towards Year 12 and Step Up.

For our students continuing into Year 12, the next few months are an important opportunity to build strong habits around attendance, completing work and making the most of class time. We encourage families to continue having conversations at home about being in class, staying up to date with learning and reaching out early when support is needed.

More information about Year 12 Step Up Camp will also be coming soon, so please keep an eye on Compass for further details.

Finally, a reminder to continue checking the Year 11 SAC calendar, as this is a live document and assessment dates may be updated throughout the term.

We are looking forward to finishing Term 3 strongly and celebrating everything our students continue to achieve.
