TAFE Taster Day

VET (Vocational Education & Training) has become an important part of the Curriculum and is undertaken by many students. A survey of Year 9 students who have not yet been given information on VET returned a response indicating that three quarters of them would like to study a VET course next year. All Year 9 students will be given the opportunity to pursue this interest at the TAFE Taster Day on Tuesday June 18. Each student has chosen two sessions at HDSC and SW TAFE in a VET course to gain an understanding of the course and the education pathway, career, and job opportunities it may lead to. 

At the conclusion of these sessions students will be provided with a full overview of courses available in 2025 to take home to discuss with their parents/carers. This will include all options viewed on the day as well as the RIST offerings. RIST will conduct a taster day in July so that students are also fully informed in that area too.

Monivae will support students with enrolment into VET courses when the time comes for Year 10 course selection following this Taster Day.
