ANZAC day
Marching as a Cadet on ANZAC Day is a significant and honorable experience. It is a chance for young men and women to pay homage to the ANZAC legacy and to participate in a tradition that holds deep meaning for their country. It was a moving sight to see the twenty-one Monivae cadets alongside the 315ACU Community unit, wearing their uniforms with pride.
Cadets were an integral part of the March being the Flag party, as well as presenting memorial wreaths during the Ceremony.
Cadet Camp
With great weather during our Cadet camp, the cadets were able to have an amazing overall experience. It allowed for all to fully enjoy the activities such as archery, ratel, navigation, camouflage and concealment. We also had CFA volunteers visit the camp to share their knowledge on Fire safety, as well as providing a competition within the Platoons on Fire fighting which involved connecting hoses and running the hoses.
RSM Stella Raymond led a young leadership team along with her CSMs Will McAdam and Zavier Payne. The PLCOM – SGT’s Geneva Kamp, James Wombwell, Liam Keable, and Seamus Byron’s passion for cadets was inspirational. Their drive to provide a cadet camp that was fun, challenging and rewarding for their charges was evident in the effort and enthusiasm that most of the cadets put into the camp. This added a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among everyone involved.
The success of the cadet camp not only fostered personal growth and skill development for both the leaders and cadets but also creates lasting memories and friendships.
So many people need to be thanked as without them the camp would not have been so successful. To the landowners Greg and Kerry; your continuous support of the Monivae College Cadet Unit by providing the land we use and have since 1982 is priceless, we appreciate your generosity. Mrs Steele (parent), Mrs McArthur (parent), Annika McArthur and Alice Perkins (Old Collegians), thank you for volunteering your time to assist at the camp.
Michelle Pitman, our amazing chef in the Boarders kitchen spent many hours prior to the camp cooking up a huge variety of food including both snacks and main meals.
During the camp week heating, cooking and managing a large team of staff ensured that meals were delivered to the camp site ready to be consumed.
As always the staff of Monivae generously offer to attend camp to ensure the event runs efficiently and that the cadets experience is a positive one.
Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you to RSM Raymond and her team who ensured that Camp was a success. You all should be very proud of yourselves.
