The Library is in full swing as we reach the half way mark of Term 2. Busy days filled with happy students keeps us very occupied.
Two of our Library regulars, Harley Kearns and Knox Ellis, both in Year 8 are pictured sharing their excellent savoury muffins made in Food Technology. Mrs Herrmann and Mr Crane indulged with abandon. Thankyou boys for your kindness and generosity.
On Monday May 13, we were visited by our local YUMCHA group who very generously donated to the Monivae Library a wonderful selection of LGBTQI+ books to add to our collection.
Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT day, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia.
YUMCHA Hamilton is youth led and facilitated by Southern Grampian Shire Council and Brophy Family and Youth Services.
We spent a lovely time chatting with these young people who are active in supporting our community whilst celebrating diversity and inclusion. Heartfelt thanks to you all. Keep up the great work.
Celebrating IDAHOBIT day here in the Library are Lucille Aarons and Hayley Dodd of Year 12.
A very enthusiastic group of Library regulars began a very intricate Jig Saw illustrating inspiring women throughout world history. Over a period of recess and lunchtimes in the Library they worked so well together and the finished puzzle was completed in record time. Well done everyone.
Tuesday May 21 was again the date for Monivae College to provide a lovely lunch at the Uniting Church here in Hamilton. Mr Leo McMahon, our luncheon stalwart organiser, was very ably assisted by five young women from Year 9. They prepared a deliciously comforting lunch here in the Food Technology kitchen before transporting the goods down to the Church for set up, meeting and greeting, serving, cleaning up, then back to school.
Heartfelt thanks to you wonderful students and very well done. Mr McMahon sang your praises for the way you worked on the day.
For our students to witness the very real need of many people here in our own community is indeed a gift.
“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”
