National Boarding Week

Merrin Shannon

May 12th – 18th marked National Boarding week across the country. National Boarding Week is aimed at raising awareness of the many benefits that Boarding school provides young individuals, as well as celebrating what boarding offers our schools.

This week provided us an opportunity to thank the variety of different people who ensure a positive boarding journey for our students and staff.

On Monday we had a tabloid sports night. A great deal of fun was had as all students mixed in with each other completing some fun challenges.

Tuesday was ‘Girls night in’ in the Girls house. With inspiration and tutoring from Casey Manson, the girls prepared a 2024 canvas that represents themselves in the Boarding house. Many thanks to Casey for her time and effort.

The boys participated in a ‘Boys Night Out’ at the Bell family property, The Outside Inn. The boarders heard from Josh Bell and old Collegian, Michael Close and enjoyed a bbq tea around the bonfire. Many thanks to The Bell family and Michael for their time and help with this night.

A similar activity is planned for next term.

Thursday night was movie and popcorn night in boarding, although it ended up being AFL and popcorn night in the Boys house.

Thankyou to everyone who helped with the week, the boarders appreciated their week and it was great to celebrate the week and raise awareness about the many benefits of Boarding at Monivae and celebrating the important part our boarding community plays in the fabric of the School and wider community.
