Sport Report

Term 2 has been a productive and successful term for sport at Melbourne Girls’ College, with students participating across a range of interschool competitions and school-based activities.
Interschool Sport
Our students represented the school in Netball, Soccer, AFL, and Badminton across all year levels
The Intermediate Netball team performed strongly in the Division round with both competitive teams facing off in the Grand Final. The Intermediate A team was successful and will progress to regionals in Term 3!
All Year 8 teams in Netball, Soccer, and Badminton advanced to the next stage after consistent performances across their various sports. 125 Year 8 students went out on sport for the day which was a fantastic effort from this year level.
The Year 7 teams also achieved success in their various sports, with all teams moving through to the next round. We had fantastic participation from our Year 7’s with over 200 students competing across Netball, Soccer and Badminton on the day!
Senior AFL
The Senior AFL team has been dominant once again, winning the Division title and competing at Regionals, where they represented the school proudly. The Senior team now progresses through to the Regional Grand Final on the 5th of August.

It was a well-contested and enjoyable game, with the teachers finishing ahead and retaining the cup this year with a smashing score of 10-5. Everyone is looking forward to the next exciting teacher vs. student match of dodgeball, coming up in term three! Interesting to see who will come out on top…

Thank you to all students and staff involved in sport this term, you have all represented the college wonderfully. We look forward to continuing our sporting programs in Term 3 with Hockey, Table Tennis and Basketball teams heading out to division as well as some regional finals being held for various sports throughout the term.
