Technology

A massive congratulations and shout out to all students who participated in a Technology elective subject in Semester One. There were a wide range of experiences and learning opportunities, and the students created some truly spectacular outcomes.
Showcasing some examples from the different subjects offered:
Year 9 Furniture Design
Students were tasked with designing and creating a side table, using a variety of available, sustainably sourced timbers.
Year 9 Fashion Design
Year 9 students explored the design process by researching, designing, and constructing a loungewear garment created with a specific end-user in mind.
Year 9 Textiles Design
Students in textile design learnt how to screen print, they then utilised their designs to produce fabrics to make zip purses. Students also created their promotional swing tags. This year we also experimented with AI generated design.
Year 10 Textile Design
Students screen printed, block printed, embroidered, appliqued and re-purposed products and clothing.
Year 10 Costume Design
World of Wearable Art was the theme and the students rose to the challenge. They each chose to create a costume for an existing literary or cinematic character or a new character entirely.
Year 10 Jewellery Design
Students took the opportunity to plan, design and make a functional jewellery piece (earrings or a pendant) using saw-pierced copper and enamel paints, with a focus on the design elements of shape and colour. Plenty of class time was spent exploring shapes, layering templates and looking at how to incorporate, or not, the warm, rose colour of polished copper. Here are some of the lovely pieces produced by our creative students. Take the time to look at the pieces on display in the tech wing.
Year 9 Creating Global Flavours
Over the semester students tasted different dishes from around the world. They tried new cooking techniques and flavour combinations, developing their skills and their palates.
Year 10 Food for Life
Students shone this semester in Food for Life. They produced a wide range of recipes, showcasing how to adapt recipes to suit different dietary needs. There were many class favour recipes, but the standout was the flourless chocolate cake.
