Careers

It has been a busy term with Year 9 students participating in their Morrisby Career Profiling Unpacking interviews. Students completed an online assessment in Term 1 that helps them to understand their strengths and potential to guide them towards their best career, subject and future educational choices. The Unpacking interviews were conducted by specialised Morrisby consultants who meet 1:1 with each student to help them understand their profile results.
We are delighted to have partnered with the Richmond Rotary Club to deliver the Mock Job Interview program for Year 10 students. Across several wellbeing classes students prepared their resume (a document they will continue to refine throughout their career) and a cover letter selecting from a list of mock jobs. Successful applicants were then invited to a mock interview with a panel of two interviewers – volunteers from Rotary. The anticipation is real, as students wait for their turn to meet with the panel and the relief and smiles when the interview was over was great to witness. Students receive feedback and tips from the interview panel on both their submitted documents and their interview performance.
Year 10 and 11 students with an interest in a career in building and construction will soon be participating in a unique mentoring initiative offered by Multiplex. Students will have three onsite visits to Multiplex across Term 3 to gain valuable insight into what a career in the construction industry could offer in diverse career paths like Engineering, Architecture, Design and Project Management.
And of course, we are continuing to meet 1:1 with Year 12 students across term 2 and 3 to support their transition from MGC to tertiary education or the world of work.
