Principal's Report

As we reach the end of Term 2, I am reminded of how much has been achieved in such a short time. Across the college, there has been a strong sense of purpose, in classrooms, co and extra curricular programs, leadership initiatives, and or community events. The energy and commitment of our students continue to inspire, and the learning growth we have seen this term has been both meaningful and measurable.
A major highlight has been the celebration of our new college vision:
Melbourne Girls’ College empowers young women to strive for academic excellence, grow with resilience and self-belief, and lead courageously. We are driven by a commitment to shape socially conscious individuals who positively influence communities.
This vision reflects the heart of our work and the aspirations we hold for every student. It reinforces our focus on learning, wellbeing, and the development of confident, ethical, and active young people. From Year 7 through to Year 12, our students are rising to meet this vision each day, in their learning, their leadership, and their willingness to step up and make a difference.
Throughout Term 2, there has been a strong focus on learning growth across all year levels. Importantly, we are continuing to ensure that every student experiences success and challenge. This commitment to continual improvement reflects our belief that learning is not just about outcomes, but about the growth we see along the way.
Term 2 has also seen rich opportunities beyond the classroom. Students have represented the college with pride in debating, music, sport, STEAM programs, student leadership forums, and cultural events. These experiences help to build the self-belief, courage, and connection that sit at the heart of our new vision.
As we look ahead to Term 3, it is important that all students return prepared and ready to continue their learning with focus and purpose. A key part of this is ensuring that students arrive each day in full school uniform from top to toe, including academic or PE uniform as appropriate for their timetable. Wearing the uniform with pride reflects our shared values and contributes to a strong and united college culture.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your continued commitment to our community. I hope the break provides time for rest, reflect and recharge.
