Chinese Museum Visit

On 19 June, the Year 8 Chinese students took the tram to the city to learn about Melbourne long Chinese history, at the Chinese Museum.
They learned the history of Chinese decorative knotting and got to make their own traditional bracelet to take home. The Year 8s then took a guided tour of the museum, where they learnt that during the Gold Rush, over 400 migrants would pack into ships the size of two buses, and take months to arrive in Australia, at which point they would walk hundreds of kilometres from South Australia towards the Victorian gold fields.
After the provided Chinese lunch, the Year 8s toured the Han Dynasty exhibition, where they saw the Emperor’s jade burial suit and the world’s first earthquake measurement device.
