 Year 12 Music Evening

Last Thursday, the Year 12 music cohort explored a wide range of instrumentation and styles in the year 12 music evening. Growing up with the music classes from Year 8 onwards has embraced how we have all evolved from shyly performing in younger year levels, to taking the extra step forwards to confidence and exploring our own and contrasting genres of music. The performances this night travelled from the jazz standard, “Autumn song” played by flute, to the invigorating piano movements in “Hamilton Exit Music”, all the way to original songs sung and played with guitar concurrently. The program invited parents and friends to expand their musical repertoire and see all the ways music can be used to evoke the artist’s thoughts.

Thanks to our Year 10 Event Management students, Trev, Trinity, Elena & Jessie and to Hayden Dun and Katrina Halliday for accompanying and Ms Corry, our Year 12 Music teacher.

Year 10 Drama: Beetlejuice the Musical

On Wednesday the 11 June the Year 9 and 10 Music Classes, and the Year 10 Drama class were lucky enough to take a trip to the theatre and see BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL.

Based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film, BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes.

With an irreverent book, an astonishing set, and a score that’s out of this Netherworld, BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL is “AN ABSOLUTE MARVEL!” (The Australian). And under its uproarious surface (six feet under, to be exact), it’s a remarkably touching show about family, love, and making the most of every Day-O!
