On Friday, 19 June, two Year 11 Physical Education Studies classes assisted as soccer and football officials at the local primary schools’ lightning carnival, held at Maida Vale Reserve.

After preparing for the carnival by learning the specific rules and regulations, each student was presented with a whistle and spent the day umpiring the many round-robin and finals games.

The students did a fantastic job engaging with players, coaches and parents. They were diligent in their officiating and represented the College with distinction. The carnival organisers were glowing in their praise of the students at the end of the day, thanking them during the presentations and saying, “The Mazenod boys were amazing. We couldn’t run this event without you.”

Congratulations to all students involved on their outstanding contribution to the day.

Eagles Cup Team Claims Historic Grand Final Victory

On Thursday, 18 June, the Eagles Cup Team delivered a dominant Grand Final performance at Mineral Resources Park, defeating Comet Bay 34-12 and securing the College’s first title in 25 years. The College last claimed this title in 2001, making this win a milestone moment for the Mazenod community.

From the first bounce, the team was composed, clinical in front of goal and consistently strong on the ball. Their discipline and teamwork set the tone for a well-deserved triumph.

Special recognition goes to I. Whan, who was named Best on Ground, and M. Fiori, who was awarded Coaches’ Player of the Season. Their efforts capped off an outstanding campaign.

A huge congratulations also goes to coaches Mr Ellul and Mr Ballantyne, whose early-morning training sessions, guidance and commitment were instrumental in shaping the team’s success.

To all staff and family members who came out to support the boys, thank you. Your presence meant a great deal and the team truly appreciated the encouragement.

The Mazenod College Year 7 ACC Football Team enjoyed an outstanding day at the ACC Year 7 Football Carnival on Tuesday. The team displayed excellent skill, teamwork and determination throughout the competition, recording three convincing victories against strong opposition from St Norbert College, CBC Fremantle (3) and Emmanuel College.

The boys competed with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day and were rewarded with an impressive series of performances. In the final match of the carnival, Mazenod faced a strong CBC Fremantle (1) side and narrowly went down in a hard-fought contest, finishing the day with an excellent record.

A big thank you to coaches Mr Donaldson and Mr Ballantyne for their leadership and support throughout the carnival. We also extend our thanks to the parents who attended and enthusiastically supported the team during the day.

Congratulations to all players on the way they represented Mazenod College.
