✝️Faith and Mission

With Gratitude for the Journey
As we come to the close of another term at Mazenod College, we give thanks for the many Moments of Grace that have shaped our journey and our community. In the spirit of St Eugene de Mazenod, we are reminded to look upon one another with compassion, recognising the dignity of each person and the presence of God in the ordinary rhythms of school life.
Our House Patrons and the Oblate tradition call us to be people of courage, faith and service. While we celebrate all the achievements along the way, it is in uplifting others along this path that is our true measure of success.
This term, we have seen that spirit lived out in countless quiet acts of kindness, perseverance and generosity in community.
As the holiday break begins, may all members of our College community find time for rest, renewal and connection. May this time be one of safety, peace and joy. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed, renewed and ready to continue our shared mission with energy and hope.
Go well, travel safely and return strengthened for the term ahead.
Grandin and Gerard Feast Days
Over the past fortnight, Grandin and Gerard Houses have celebrated their respective Patron Days, marking these significant occasions with faith, fellowship and a strong expression of House spirit.
Central to these celebrations were House Masses, which provided students with a meaningful opportunity for prayer and reflection, deeply rooted in the Oblate tradition. These liturgical gatherings were complemented by relaxed and joyful lunchtime events in the Oblate Hall, where students shared in a sausage sizzle and enjoyed time together through games and conversation.
Patron Day celebrations remain a valued part of House life, bringing together prayer, connection, and community in a spirit of joy. They provide students with the opportunity to deepen their sense of belonging, build connections across year levels and honour the distinctive identity and charism of their House.
Sincere thanks are extended to House Charism Coordinators John Keogh (Grandin) and Michael Ellul (Gerard) for their dedicated leadership and organisation. Appreciation is also offered to the senior students who generously prepared and served lunch for their fellow House members. Their spirit of service and commitment contributed greatly to the success of these celebrations and stands as a tangible expression of the strong community that defines each House.
House Charism Day
House Charism Day continues to grow as a powerful expression of who we are as a community. More than a celebration marked by colours or friendly competition, it is an invitation to deepen our connection to our House Patrons and their stories, their courage, and their enduring missions. Each Patron offers us a unique lens through which we can understand our faith in action. House Charism Day reminds us that these figures are not distant historical personalities, but companions on our journey.
Wearing a House colour is a visible sign of belonging, but the deeper call is to embody the mission, the values, and the story that shape each House. When we embrace this, House Charism Day becomes not just an event, but part of an ongoing formation journey.
A sincere thank you must be extended to all House Charism Coordinators for their leadership and dedication in this space. Their vision, organisation and commitment have been instrumental in shaping meaningful opportunities for students to connect with their House identity in authentic ways. Through their efforts, the charism of each House continues to come alive within our community.
Join Us to Friday Community Mass
Families and members of our wider community are warmly invited to join us for the Mazenod Community Mass each Friday at 8:00 am in the College Chapel. This simple and welcoming celebration offers a meaningful opportunity to gather in prayer, encourage our students, and begin the day grounded in faith. All are most welcome.
