CareersĀ  – Term 2, Week 10 2026

As another busy term comes to a close, I'd like to congratulate all students on the way they have engaged with Careers Education throughout the semester.

Ā

Term 2 has been packed with opportunities including Workplace Learning, university presentations, MyPath Week, the Careers Expo, industry presentations and individual pathway counselling. We hope these experiences have helped students build confidence as they continue planning for life beyond Mazenod.

Year 10 – Subject Selection

Congratulations to our Year 10 students on an outstanding MyPath Week.

Ā

Throughout the week students had the opportunity to:

Ā

• Hear from industry professionals about their careers and pathways

• Attend the Mazenod Careers Expo

• Participate in Explore a Career activities

• Learn from current Year 11 and 12 students

• Meet Mazenod Old Boys

• Explore university, TAFE and apprenticeship pathways

Ā

We have now move straight into Subject Selection Meetings, where students and parents have been meeting with members of the Careers Team to discuss pathway options and finalise Year 11 subject selections.

Ā

Choosing subjects isn't simply about selecting what you enjoy today - it's about keeping future options open while selecting courses that suit your interests, strengths and aspirations.

Ā

We encourage families to continue discussing future goals together before attending their counselling appointment.

Year 11 – Looking Ahead

Congratulations to our Year 11 students on completing Semester One.

Students who participated in Workplace Learning have now reflected on their placement experiences and considered how these experiences may influence future pathway decisions.

Ā

As students prepare for Semester Two, now is an ideal time to reflect on whether their current courses are the best fit for their future goals.

Ā

Students considering changing courses or pathways are encouraged to book an appointment with the Careers Team or Mr Anderson early next term. Making changes early in Semester Two provides the best opportunity for success.

Year 12 – Applications, Early Offers and University Planning

Year 12 is now entering one of the busiest periods of the year.

Ā

Students should now be:

Ā

• Finalising TISC preferences

• Researching university courses

• Applying for Early Offers where appropriate

• Preparing for interviews and additional admission requirements

• Continuing individual pathway planning with the Careers Team

Ā

TISC preferences can be updated as often as required before the closing dates, so students are encouraged to continue researching courses and discussing options with the Careers Team.

Careers Tip of the Fortnight

One conversation can make a big difference.

During the school holidays, ask your son:

"What career or pathway interested you most during MyPath Week, and why?"

Simple conversations at home help students clarify their thinking and often lead to more informed pathway decisions.

Ā

If your family has questions about university, apprenticeships, TAFE or career planning, the Careers Team is always happy to help.
