SENIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Years 11 and 12 Parents/Carers and Students

It has been great to welcome back our Year 11 students following their Central Australia trip, which returned on Friday 25 September after a successful and enjoyable experience in the Northern Territory. Staff were incredibly complimentary of the way our students conducted themselves, embraced the opportunities presented to them and supported one another throughout the trip. The feedback from students has also been overwhelmingly positive, with many reflecting on just how transformative the experience was for them. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school and are confident that the experience has strengthened their connections with one another and their sense of community, while helping them grow as individuals.

A huge thank you to Ms Parker for her leadership in organising and running the trip, and to Ms Argiriou, Mr Cameron, Ms Kelly, Mr Martin, Mrs Milne, Ms Richardson, Mr Smith, Mr Wallington and Ms Westlake for giving up their time to provide our students with such a valuable experience.

Term 4 has certainly started with a bang, with the Class of 2026 approaching the end of their time on the Senior Campus. There is plenty happening over the coming weeks as we recognise the hard work, growth and achievements of our Year 12 students, while supporting them as they prepare for their final exams and the next stage of their lives.

On Friday 16 October, we will host our VCE/VM Showcase Evening, a fantastic opportunity to spotlight the amazing work of our VCE/VM students and acknowledge the contribution they have made to our school, the VM program and the wider community. We are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved, and the evening provides an opportunity to celebrate their learning, growth and the practical skills they have developed throughout their time with us.

Friday 16 October will also be the final day of formal classes for our Year 12 students. Staff and students are encouraged to wear their pyjamas for the day, with classes continuing as normal and opportunities to share some final farewells. We will also have a picnic and soccer match on the Senior Oval at lunchtime.

On Monday 19 October, our Year 12 students will come together for Celebration Day, a chance to reflect on their time at Frankston High School. The morning will include breakfast, shirt signings, the opening of their Year 7 time capsules and the viewing of the Year 12 video. This year's theme is When I Grow Up, My Childhood Ambition, and students and staff are encouraged to dress up. Students will need to arrive by 8.10am, with the morning concluding at 10.30am.

Our Year 12 Revision Program begins on Tuesday 20 October, with all classes scheduled for a double period to allow teachers to deliver revision lectures in preparation for the upcoming examinations. These sessions are an important opportunity for students to revisit key content, strengthen their understanding and seek clarification from their teachers. We encourage students and families to familiarise themselves with the revision schedule and ensure students make the most of these opportunities as they prepare for their exams.

While these events mark the end of formal classes, our focus remains on supporting students through their final assessments and examinations. It is an important time to reinforce the value of preparation, organisation and persistence, while ensuring our students feel supported as they take their next steps.

We also look forward to celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2026 at Valedictory on Wednesday 18 November at Crown Palladium. This is an important opportunity to recognise the efforts, growth and contributions of our Year 12 students and to celebrate this milestone with their families and staff.

I want to take this opportunity to thank our staff for the work they continue to do to support our students, not only in their learning, but through the relationships and experiences that make their time at school meaningful. They provide so many opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom and their contribution makes a real difference to our young people. These final weeks are an opportunity to recognise how far our Year 12 students have come and ensure they finish their time on the Senior Campus with a sense of pride, connection and optimism for what lies ahead.

While much of the focus is on our Year 12 students, Term 4 will move quickly for our Year 11 students as well. They have had a fantastic year and are now in the process of finishing their Unit 2 content in preparation for their end-of-year examinations, which commence on Monday 16 November. The exam schedule will be released shortly.

We encourage students to make the most of the time they have left with their teachers to identify and address any gaps in their knowledge and skills. Regular practice, applying their learning to different questions and acting on teacher feedback will be important in ensuring they are well prepared for their exams. As always, we encourage families to get in contact with the Senior Campus team if they need any support.
