Rest and Refresh: Preparing for the School Holidays

As we wrap up Term 3, the RISE Wellbeing Team wants to celebrate the wonderful growth and effort our students have shown over the past ten weeks. They have certainly earned a well-deserved rest! With spring well and truly here and the days getting warmer, a quick reminder to dig out those broad-brimmed hats ready for next term.

The Importance of Rest: The upcoming spring holidays are a well-deserved chance for students to rest. After a busy term, children often need this time to reset and refresh their minds and bodies. If your schedule allows, the holidays are a wonderful opportunity to connect and spend quality time together, whether that is a quiet afternoon at home or a local outing in the sunshine.

Staying on Track: While the holidays are a time to relax, keeping a few predictable routines in place can be incredibly supportive for a child's wellbeing. To help them have a smooth start to Term 4, we suggest:

  • Bedtime Routines: Try to keep sleep schedules fairly close to the usual school night routine. Consistent sleep is one of the best ways to ensure children stay regulated and well-rested.
  • Screen Time Balance: With the weather warming up, try to balance time spent on tablets or television with plenty of play, reading, or outdoor time.

Keeping these gentle structures "on track" reduces anxiety and makes the transition back to the classroom much easier.

Local Activities and Care: For families looking for local activities, the Wyndham City Council offers many programs and events. You can search for events here: What's On Wyndham

We also understand that many of our parents will continue to work during the break. Big Childcare is available to support your family with holiday programs. You can find more information and booking details here: Big Childcare Information.

We wish all our families a safe and relaxing break. We look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4, refreshed and ready for a fantastic end to the school year!
