Bonjour, parents and students!
Assessments are all finished! Students did really well, and I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work. Their patience, determination, and effort certainly did not go unnoticed! We also had a smooth end to the term, exploring some new and exciting topics in preparation for Term 4.
Below is a snapshot of what each year level will be exploring during Weeks 7–8:
Prep
Students have been learning Les Trois Petits Cochons (The Three Little Pigs) in French. They have been repeating key words and phrases after the teacher and identifying familiar French words and expressions throughout the story.
Grade 1
Students have been learning how to talk about celebrations in Australia and France in French. They have also been learning how to name foods from around the French-speaking world and describe their characteristics.
Grade 2
Students have been learning about formal and informal phrases in French through interactive drama games and comic-strip activities. To finish the term, they read Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood) in French and created a simple monologue based on the story.
Grade 3
Students have been learning how to introduce themselves in French and practising reading their paragraphs to a partner. They have also been exploring French culture through French gestures and learning about their meanings.
Grade 4
Students have been learning how to reenact Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood) in French through a group role-play activity. They have been practicing expression, gestures and accurate pronunciation. They have also been exploring French culture through French gestures and learning about their meanings.
Grades 5 and 6
Over the last few weeks of the term, students have been working on a restaurant project. They have been creating a food menu that includes prices and measurements, before learning how to take and place orders in French.
