Hi Tarneit Rise families, 

We have come to the end of another busy and creative term in Performing Arts!  This term, the Performing Arts team has seen students build confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills in their drama learning. It has been wonderful to see the fantastic learning and growth across all year levels. 

Prep students have successfully completed their drama unit, with a focus on exploring stories and characters. Students enjoyed acting and role-playing as characters from their favorite stories and games, as well as making up their own amazing stories. This fortnight, students are having a preview of next term’s dance unit; they can’t wait!

Grade 1 and 2 students completed their unit on puppetry by having the opportunity to design and build their very own puppets! Our grade one students created shadow puppets and explored how to use a light source to create shadow puppet performances. Our Grade Two students created rod puppets with paper and wooden rods. There were some incredible puppet creatures! Our Grade Ones and Twos might want to create some more puppets at home this holiday!

Our Grades 3 and 4 performing artists have reached an exciting milestone this fortnight by performing their short play performances. Grade 3s used a one-page script as a template to build a three-scene play, while our Grade 4s learned how to devise a completely original story using improvisation skills. The students then had to rehearse their performance, focusing on the elements of drama. Students especially enjoyed adding costumes and props! Their ability to work together, refine their ideas, and present confidently was fantastic.

Grades 5 and 6 students have completed and shared their short films. We have loved seeing their creative ideas and increasing understanding and use of the elements of drama and filmmaking techniques. It is especially gratifying to see the growth in student work between grade five and six. Well done to all our filmmakers!.

We would like to congratulate all students on their efforts this term; we look forward to another exciting term ahead.
