Dear fellow scientists,

Prep students are learning to work with a partner to design and make a ball for a purpose. They will choose suitable materials, work together to create their ball, and decide whether it is best for throwing or kicking.

Grade 1 students are learning about digital technologies used in everyday life. They will identify digital technologies, explore how they help people, and discuss examples of how they are used to meet people’s needs through a cut-and-paste activity.

Grade 2 students are learning to use the producing stage of the design process to create a moon cycle viewer. They will use their labeled diagrams to make moon phase tiles and work collaboratively with their groups to complete their designs. Grade 3 students are learning to design a fun and healthy snack for children. They will explore fruit and vegetables, evaluate their designs, and learn the importance of working safely and hygienically when preparing food. Grade 4 students are learning to complete the producing stage of the design process by creating a food chain board game. They will use their labeled diagrams to make their board games and work collaboratively with their groups to bring their designs to life. Grade 5 students are learning to classify matter as solids, liquids or both using a Venn diagram. They will work collaboratively in groups to observe and record objects in the correct areas of their Venn diagrams. Students will also practice working responsibly by returning materials after their observations and writing a paragraph summarising their completed Venn diagram. Grade 6 students are learning to evaluate whether a video game meets the needs of different users. They will explore how video games can be made accessible for people with disabilities and create a complete circuit using a Makey Makey game controller. Students will also practice using and packing away electronic equipment safely.
