YEAR 8

Our Year 8 students have continued to make a positive contribution to the school community this term, with a strong focus on our school value of respect. Respect is demonstrated in many ways throughout daily school life — through the way students speak to one another, listen to their teachers, care for school property, and include others in both the classroom and the yard.
Throughout the term, Year 8 students have been encouraged to reflect on how respectful behaviours create a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone. It has been pleasing to see many students consistently demonstrating kindness, cooperation, and responsibility in their interactions with peers and staff. Small actions such as using positive language, being prepared for class, and showing consideration for others make a significant difference to our school culture.
In ARCH classes this term, students have also participated in sessions from the The Resilience Project. These lessons have focused on developing resilience, empathy, gratitude, and emotional wellbeing. Students have engaged in discussions and activities designed to support positive mental health, strengthen relationships, and encourage strategies for managing challenges both inside and outside the classroom. The program has provided valuable opportunities for students to reflect on their personal growth and the importance of supporting one another.
As students continue to develop socially and academically, we remind them that respect also includes accepting differences, resolving conflicts appropriately, and making positive choices even when faced with challenges. These are important life skills that support students not only at school but also within the wider community.
We have also been proud of the way many Year 8 students have represented the school during extracurricular activities, sporting events, and excursions. Their behaviour and willingness to support one another have reflected the values we strive to uphold every day.
As we move into the next part of the term, we encourage all students to continue demonstrating respect in all aspects of school life — respect for themselves, for others, and for their learning environment. Thank you to families for your ongoing support in reinforcing these important values at home. Together, we can continue to build a positive and inclusive Year 8 community.
