MATHEMATICS

MathLab is here!

MathLab is an initiative designed to develop our budding Maths superstars who may need a little support in reaching their potential.

The program kicked off with a select group of year 9s, preparing them for the challenges of Naplan and the rigours of year 9 maths before they enter senior school. Students have shown a marked improvement in their confidence and willingness to face the challenges of problem-solving head on.

Our year 7 group utilises a dedicated space to help them explore mathematics with a more hands on approach and focuses heavily on the development of core skills in the current area of study.

TimeTable Rockstars

Through the MathLab initiative all students of MSC have access to Timetable Rockstars to either work individually or challenge a friend. You also get to create your own online identity (says Baroness Das Rock).  See your Maths teacher for your login details and then go to TTRockstars.

Enhanced

Term 2 is the term Maths Enhanced. Our year 7-9 students get a mental workout each Thursday afternoon. Students are presented with a number of problems to solve, often completing against each other. Students may also complete extensions related to their current area of study in their Maths classes. This also gives students an opportunity to work with students who are not normally in their class. This week one of the challenges were:
