VCE LEGAL STUDIES

Early this term, VCE Legal Studies students visited La Trobe University to participate in a Mooting Masterclass run by Ivanhoe Grammar, in partnership with Trinity College and Deakin Law School.
Mooting is a simulated, formal court proceeding, whereby participants (usually University Law students) argue a legal problem before a judge, practicing their advocacy and oral argument skills.
In this full day intensive masterclass, students participated in workshops where they learnt how to break down a moot problem, develop strong and consistent arguments, as well as present these to a judge.
They also observed a team of Law students model a Moot, and were given the opportunity to ask questions of these students, as well as experienced legal professionals.
Selected students will go on to represent the college in the Interschool Mooting Competition later this year at Deakin University
