Y8: Teamwork and Wellbeing Incursion

On Thursday 5 February 2026, our Year 8 students took part in an engaging Teamwork and Wellbeing Incursion focused on collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership.
Across the day, students rotated through three hands-on challenges designed to build personal and social skills. In the Billy Cart Blitz, students worked in teams to design, build, and race Billy Carts without instructions. This activity encouraged critical thinking, delegation, and teamwork, with students reflecting on individual strengths and shared responsibility while enjoying some friendly competition.
The second challenge, Survive the Storm, saw students design and construct shelters under specific constraints such as budget, materials, and location. As obstacles were introduced, teams practised adaptability, communication, and negotiation, learning how effective planning and cooperation lead to stronger outcomes.
Finally, students were unlocking potential through a series of physical and mental team tasks that highlighted leadership, trust, and communication. Through reflection, students explored how encouragement, respect, and collaboration strengthen relationships and support wellbeing.
Overall, the incursion provided valuable opportunities for students to develop resilience, teamwork, and confidence in a fun and meaningful way.
