Principal's Message
Words from the College Principal, Issue 1, Term 1, 2026.
Assalamualaikum warahmatullah
wabarakatuh.
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Alhamdulillah, we have now reached the halfway point of Term 1, and what a truly
memorable start to the year it has been. I am pleased to take this opportunity to reflect on the many meaningful experiences, enriching activities, and important milestones our students and families have shared so far this term.
To begin the year on a warm and connected note, we hosted Information Nights for both our Primary and Secondary communities. These evenings offered a valuable opportunity for parents and teachers to come together and begin cultivating the relationships that are so central to our students' growth and success. It was also a pleasure to welcome back our DUX and High Achieving students during the Secondary School Meet the Teachers sessions, where they were formally recognised for their outstanding academic accomplishments. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them, and we pray that Allah (SWT) grants them continued success throughout their life journey. It was heartening to see such strong attendance, and I extend my sincere gratitude to all families who made the time to be present. The partnership between home and school remains the foundation of everything we do at ICOM, and we look forward to nurturing these connections throughout the year ahead.
Alhamdulillah, we are currently in the blessed month of Ramadan, and it has been a truly uplifting time for our entire school community. Ramadan is a month of reflection, increased worship, and spiritual renewal, and we have been deeply pleased to witness these values alive and well across our school. In celebration of this sacred month, both our Primary and Secondary schools held special Ramadan assemblies, providing students with a meaningful opportunity to come together in reflection and gratitude. Adding to the joy of the holy month, we were thrilled to welcome our very special Ramadan mascots to ICOM, who arrived bearing gifts for all our students. It was a truly delightful occasion that brought smiles, energy, and excitement to the school. May Allah (SWT) accept our fasts and our prayers, and may this sacred month bring peace and abundant barakah to all our families. Ameen.
Our Primary students have had a wonderful term engaging with the world beyond the classroom in hands-on and meaningful ways. A visit to Melbourne Zoo saw students explore themes of animal adaptation, observing first-hand how creatures are uniquely designed to thrive in their environments. Equally special was our Henny Penny Hatching Incursion, which brought the miracle of life directly into our classrooms. I commend our Primary students for the enthusiasm and sense of wonder they brought to each of these experiences.
Our Secondary students have also been engaged in a rich range of experiences beyond the classroom. Alhamdulillah, our three Programs and Pathways are off to a great start this term, with a number of meaningful excursions and incursions already underway. In VM Faculty, our Year 9 students have commenced their Small Business MCIE excursions on a weekly basis, gaining practical and meaningful insights into the world of entrepreneurship and commerce. Our Year 10 and 11 students participated in several valuable incursions, including Mentor and Executive Leadership Training, equipping them with important skills and perspectives that will serve them well into their future endeavours. Our Year 12 students took part in a University Information Session incursion, an important and timely opportunity for them to explore their pathways and begin planning for life beyond secondary school. I extend my sincere pride and appreciation to all our secondary students for the enthusiasm they continue to demonstrate.
As Ramadan draws to a close, we look forward with great anticipation to the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr. Eid is a time of gratitude, togetherness, and immense celebration, and we cannot wait to share in that joy with our entire school community. Our annual Eid Festival promises to be a wonderful occasion filled with laughter, festivities, and community spirit for students of all ages, and it remains one of the most cherished events on our school calendar.
Rounding out the term in true ICOM fashion, we are very much looking forward to Multicultural Day, held on the final day of term, is a meaningful celebration of the diverse cultural backgrounds and traditions that make up our school community. We anticipate a day full of colour, culture, and heartfelt community spirit.
As I reflect on all that has already been achieved this term, I am filled with immense gratitude and pride. Our students continue to grow academically, spiritually, and socially, and it is a true privilege to witness their journey each day. May Allah (SWT) continue to guide and bless our students, staff, and families as we move into the second half of this term. With Eid celebrations, Multicultural Day, and many more enriching experiences still ahead, I have no doubt the remainder of Term 1 will be just as memorable and full of opportunity, insha Allah.
