Secondary: Mentor & Executive Leadership Training

Student Leadership Message
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Alhamdulillah, we are honoured and grateful to serve the ICOM community as your 2026 College Captains. We look forward to fulfilling this responsibility with sincerity, dedication and pride, Insha’Allah.
One month into the academic year, the Student Representative Council has been working hard to foster an engaging and supportive environment. Our Prefects have launched weekly clubs including table tennis, debates, cooking, board games and sports, encouraging greater student involvement and connection.
The Executive SRC also held a successful Pre-Ramadan Fundraiser, raising funds for Palestine. Insha’Allah, we look forward to organising further initiatives that benefit both our College community and the wider Ummah, with our next fundraiser planned at the Australian Islamic Centre.
As College Captains, our goal is to help create an environment where every student feels valued, supported and motivated to excel academically, spiritually and socially. We pray that Allah (SWT) grants our College unity, success and barakah, and that 2026 is a year of growth and excellence for all.
Izaan Irshad & Fatimah Adnan, 2026 College Captains
Year 10 Mentor & Executive SRC Training Incursion
It has been inspiring to see our Year 10 Mentors and Executive SRC students embracing their leadership roles with such enthusiasm and maturity. As part of their ongoing development, they recently participated in Day Two of their Student Leadership Training Incursion, continuing to build the mindset and skills needed to lead with purpose in 2026.
This session focused on brainstorming and creativity, challenging students to think beyond ideas and consider how to turn vision into meaningful impact. Through interactive activities and discussion, students explored what it means to leave a positive legacy and lead with intention.
A strong emphasis was placed on servant leadership and emotional intelligence (EQ), encouraging students to lead with empathy, self-awareness and sincerity. Students also engaged in personal reflection by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), while developing practical strategies to better organise their responsibilities and maximise their potential.
The concept of moving “from headlines to impact” prompted students to consider how true leadership is not about recognition, but about creating lasting and meaningful change within the school community.
We thank Mr Fadi Koubar, Mr Omar Lahham, Mr Omar Dennaoui, Mr Taha El Wali and Ms Luana Veronesi for facilitating such a purposeful and reflective program. We look forward to seeing our Mentors support the Year 7 cohort in their transition to secondary school, while our Executive SRC continues to lead initiatives that positively shape student life at ICOM throughout 2026, Insha’Allah.
Ms. Sarah El-Sabaa, Assistant Director of Student Services
