NAPLAN Online Tests 2024

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) - tests for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be held in March this year in the period between March 13 and March 22.

NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals and can be used to improve student achievement.

Please see below information for Parents and Carers.

Adjustments are available for students with disability who have diverse functional abilities and needs. Beaumaris Secondary college will work with parents/carers and students to identify, on a case-by-case basis, reasonable adjustments required for individual students with disability to access NAPLAN. Adjustments should reflect the support normally provided for classroom assessments.

Please discuss any adjustments with your child's GOAL Mentor before Friday March 1.

To help inform these decisions, please refer to the NAPLAN brochure which contains links to the NAPLAN public demonstration site, the Guide for schools to assist students with disability to access NAPLAN, and our series of videos where parents/ carers, teachers and students share their experiences in using NAPLAN adjustments.

In exceptional circumstances, a student with a disability that severely limits their capacity to participate in the assessment, or a student who has recently arrived in Australia and has a non-English speaking background, may be granted a formal exemption.

Please speak with Deb Kirk if you have any questions about exemptions before Friday March 1.

Later in the year you will receive your child’s personal NAPLAN report. The report will also show how your child performed in relation to national minimum standards. These describe the minimum acceptable standards for students across Australia.

I am confident that the information you receive as a result of your child’s participation in the NAPLAN tests will be valuable in helping you to assess your child’s progress in literacy and numeracy.
