Hello Mathematicians,
As we approach the end of Term 3, it is important that we finish the term with focus, commitment and a positive attitude towards learning. A smooth and productive classroom environment begins with preparation. Students are expected to arrive to every lesson fully equipped with all essential supplies: a scientific calculator, pens, pencils, rulers, glue sticks, workbooks, and a well-stocked pencil case. A scientific calculator is a critical tool for Mathematics and can be purchased from the school office if needed.
Arriving prepared is non-negotiable because it ensures that learning time is maximised and disruptions are minimised. Establishing the habit of packing school bags the night before is a simple but powerful way to support success. We thank families for their ongoing support in encouraging responsibility, organisation and high standards.

Goodbye Year 12
As our Year 12 students approach the end of their schooling journey, we would like to wish them the very best as they prepare for their HSC examinations. The effort, persistence and resilience they have demonstrated throughout their schooling has been commendable, and we know they will approach this final challenge with determination. The HSC is an opportunity to showcase the knowledge and skills they have developed over many years, while also marking the beginning of exciting new pathways and opportunities.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 12 students and wish them every success as they take this next step beyond school. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and farewell in the coming weeks.
Term 3 Assessment Tasks
As we move towards the beginning of Term 4, many of the topics covered in Mathematics will be informally assessed. Informal assessment means that, rather than sitting formal examinations, students will demonstrate their understanding through classwork, discussions, participation and smaller in-class tasks. These provide valuable insight into how well students are grasping key skills and concepts and help teachers identify areas that may need further support. For this reason, it is important that students continue to show consistent effort and engagement in all lessons, as their day-to-day application and commitment directly contribute to their learning success.

Year 7 – Fractions, Decimals and Percentages and Data Collection and Visualisation
Year 8 – Ratios and Rates, Data Analysis and Properties of Geometrical Figures
Year 9 – Data Analysis A, Volume B and a final Mathematics Pathway Topic
Year 10 – Introduction to Networks, Trigonometry C & a final Mathematics Pathway Topic
Year 11
As our Year 11 students prepare for their upcoming Preliminary Examinations, staying organised and developing effective study habits will be essential. Examinations provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout their Preliminary courses, so preparation should begin well before the examination period.
✅ Review class notes, worked examples and previously completed tasks regularly rather than relying on last-minute revision.
✅ Practise a range of questions and ensure you understand the process used to solve a problem, not just the final answer.
✅ Use the revision materials and additional resources available on CANVAS to support your preparation.
✅ Ask questions and seek assistance from your teacher when you are unsure about a concept or skill.
✅ Bring a scientific calculator to every Mathematics lesson and examination and make sure you are familiar with the functions you may need to use.
Being exam ready means arriving prepared, understanding the expectations of the examination and having practised applying your knowledge independently. We encourage all Year 11 students to approach their Preliminary Examinations with confidence, persistence and a commitment to doing their personal best.
We encourage parents and guardians to refer to the Assessment Booklet provided earlier this year for more details, and for students to record important dates in their planners to avoid last-minute stress.
Need Extra Help?
Homework Club runs every Thursday afternoon from 2 to 3pm. This is a great opportunity for students to receive additional support and guidance outside of class. Students are encouraged to make use of this time if they need help understanding a concept, completing homework or preparing for an upcoming assessment.
As we approach the end of Term 3, we encourage all students to remain organised, continue putting in consistent effort, ask questions when they need support and aim for their personal best. Every lesson is an opportunity to strengthen mathematical skills and build confidence. Thank you for your continued hard work and commitment throughout the term.
