NAPLAN
A massive congratulations to all the Grade Fives who completed all of the NAPLAN tests. On Wednesday for the writing assessment we had technical difficulties 10 minutes in. We had just got settled into writing when the connection issues began, we had to stay in test conditions while the teachers tried to sort the issue out but in the end it was a statewide problem and we had to pause our attempt! Thursday was especially big with two testing sessions in one day. Everyone put in an amazing effort and tried their best, and handled the disruptions really well! All the Grade Five teachers are very proud and excited to see the results. We finally finished NAPLAN on Monday with Maths as our last test and we felt very relieved and proud of ourselves!
Reading
In Reading we have been completing an activity grid with all sorts of different tasks relating to the books we are reading. We have redesigned the covers, created advertisements and quizzes, written poems and reviews and so much more! It was great to have the chance to be creative in response to our books!
Maths
This week we put out knowledge of decimal place value together with our addition and subtraction strategies and practised working to a budget. We had $100 to spend and needed to choose 10 items from a supermarket catalogue, then calculate our total and change received! It was a really fun activity.
