Foundation

We have had an amazing first few weeks of school. The Foundations have reached halfway through their first term and have been having so much fun learning! It has been great to see each Foundation student settle into classroom routines and develop their confidence and independence. We are excited to have the Foundations go towards attending a full week of school starting from next week!
Literacy
In Literacy, the Foundations have been focusing on learning about the sounds Ss, Aa, Tt, Pp, Ii, Nn. We have been practising their letter formation, cued articulation, reading and writing these letters in words. Using 'Lefty Larry', 'Grapheme Grasshopper' and 'Blendy Wendy' as our reading strategies, the Foundations are having a go at reading and writing words such as sat, nap, pit, and tan.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, the Foundations practiced counting, ordering, and making numbers 0-20. We have been using lots of hands-on manipulatives to count and represent our numbers. Students also have been practising their number formation.
Inquiry
In Inquiry this Term, we are focusing on the topic 'Who am I?' and are reading and exploring various books about families, characteristics, and comparing differences between our families.
