Level 3

Literacy
In our reading sessions, we have been looking at fiction and nonfiction text features, and how to find important information in what we read. Students have also looked at the authors purpose, comparing and contrasting between texts and characters, and different point of views.
In Writing, students have explored writing narratives using plot mountain. They have had a go at writing bold beginnings with sizzling starts, a build up to the climax, the actual climax and what that means in a story, and a meaningful resolution. Students have worked so incredibly hard!
In Spelling, students have revised and learnt new spelling rules with some of our long vowel sounds. They have also looked at homophones and how they are spelt differently and their different meanings. Students have really enjoyed playing spelling games with their peers.
Numeracy
In Maths lessons, we have continued to look at place value and how to rename numbers. Students have enjoyed finding new ways to write numbers and separate the place value in different ways. We have also stepped into the world of addition and subtraction. Students have been learning about fact families and how 3 numbers can be used to create 4 equations. They have also had fun playing many maths games.
Inquiry
During our Inquiry sessions, students have worked with one another to brainstorm and research many different celebrations around the world. Students have loved sharing their favourite celebrations and cultural celebrations with one another. We have all learnt some new information and facts about lots of different celebrations! We can't wait to see how much more they grow in their understanding and knowledge of celebrations around us and the world.
