Welcome to New Staff

I am pleased to welcome Melissa Stretton to the TSHS team as our Industry Liaison Officer (ILO). Melissa is working three days per week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Melissa’s role provides a vital centralised link between the students, parents, the school and industry through all matters regarding Vocational Education and Training (VET), including School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), work experience and VET pathways. Melissa can be contacted at mstre63@eq.edu.au. For further information regarding SBATs and/or work experience opportunities for students, please reach out to Melissa.

In addition, we have also welcomed Paul Wilkes to our team who has hit the ground running and is doing a great job maintaining our grounds.

Open Day

Our annual Open Day was held on the afternoon of Thursday May 14 and was a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many future TSHS, parents and community members tour our school and see and experience the wide variety of amazing curricula, co-curricular and value-added programs and opportunities offered to all of our students. Thank you to all of our community for your support with our 2026 Open Day.

TSHS Musical – Seussical the Musical

The school community is buzzing with excitement with the opening matinee show just around the corner. A significant number of staff and students have been working tirelessly for many months in preparation for the musical and it promises to be an amazing show!

Matinee and evening performances will be held on Wednesday May 27 and Thursday May 28. Please be sure to book your tickets as soon as possible through the Trybooking link: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1554410.

Chookas team!

Student Artwork – The Condensery

Our Year 9 and 10 students have been working with community artists as part of their learning program in Visual Art. It is wonderful to see students engaging with industry

professionals and community within their learning programs. If you are able to, please visit the Condensery to view their creative works! Student artworks, alongside industry professional works, are on display until 12 July.

Cattle Show Team

Congratulations to our amazing Cattle Show Team for their amazing achievements at the recent Crows Nest Show. I know the students and staff are very much looking forward to participating in the upcoming Esk and Toogoolawah shows. Best wishes team for these shows as well.

Uniform Policy / Dress Code Consultation

The school is currently consulting with the P&C and school community regarding some proposed amendments to the TSHS Uniform Policy moving forward. At this time, the consultation is in the early phases. Please note, there are no proposed changes to the newly implemented uniform itself. Further information around this will be shared with community moving forward.

Academic Achievement

We are at the time of the semester whereby students’ assessment demands are increasing with due dates fast approaching across learning areas. Please take some time to review your child’s academic progress to date via Daymap and discuss with your child’s teacher/s potential strategies for improvement in order to maximise academic outcomes.

TSHS Newsletter

As previously advised, we have moved to a revised newsletter publication schedule in Weeks 5 and 10 only in Terms 1 and 2, 2026. Should you wish to provide any feedback around the publication schedule of the TSHS newsletter, please feel free to contact us by phone or via email at feedback@toogoolawahshs.eq.edu.au. Daymap and Facebook continue to be our preferred platforms for communications with community and as such, we strongly encourage your engagement with both. Should you require any assistance in downloading and installing the Daymap app, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Kind regards,

Phil Reid
