Silver Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey Success

Congratulations to our Silver Duke of Edinburgh participants — Angelika, Esta, Kaydin, Ellanore, Jorden, Benjamin and Kalti— who successfully completed a 120km Adventurous Journey Cycling Expedition over the Easter break.

During the expedition, students rode mountain bikes from Yarraman to Lowood along the scenic Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The challenging multi-day journey required students to demonstrate teamwork, resilience, navigation skills, and determination while travelling through a variety of terrain and weather conditions.

Completing an Adventurous Journey is a significant milestone within the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and reflects the dedication and perseverance of all students involved. We are incredibly proud of their efforts, positive attitude and achievements throughout the expedition.

A special thank you also goes to our dedicated adult volunteers, Ms Arnold, Hunter Masters-Woods and Mr Green, for their support, encouragement and commitment throughout the journey. Their guidance and assistance played an important role in the success of the expedition.

Well done to all participants on this outstanding accomplishment!

Join the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

Are you looking for new challenges, opportunities for personal growth, and exciting adventures? Students in Years 9–11 are invited to join the The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program at Toogoolawah State High School.

The Award offers three levels — Bronze, Silver and Gold — with participants completing four sections: Skill, Physical Recreation, Service, and an Adventurous Journey. Students can choose activities that match their own interests and goals, with approximately one hour per week dedicated to each activity area.

A variety of Adventurous Journeys are offered throughout the program, providing students with opportunities to build confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and independence while taking part in unique outdoor experiences.

The Bronze and Silver Awards each take a minimum of six months to complete, while the Gold Award requires a minimum of 12 months. Students may choose to complete one, two, or all three Award levels.

Participation in the Award also contributes toward QCE attainment, with students receiving 1 QCE point each for Bronze and Silver, and 2 QCE points for Gold.

The cost to join at Bronze level is $200.00, which covers Queensland Award Office administration, insurance, certificates, and badges.

New participants are always welcome. Students interested in joining can see Mr Harris for further information and registration forms.

More information about this internationally recognised program can be found at The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Australia.
