Foundation students listened to the story, 'Mister Seahorse', as our inspiration for our next piece of artwork. First, students used tissue paper to collage a template of a seahorse. They then used paint sticks to colour in some coral, seaweed and rock templates and then cut them out to use in the background. They also drew some wavy lines on our blue ocean background. To complete their artwork, students cut their seahorse out and glued it on their background. They then used paint sticks to draw simple patterns on the seahorse.  

 Grade 1 students have been busy with construction using egg cartons, paper plates and take away tubs. They also completed a mini weaving 'waistcoat' to complete their owls. 

Still on owls and weaving, the grade 2s have taken these skills up a notch, learning about and using warp and weft threads. Students added foam eyes and a beak. I am currently in the process of tying off the ends of the weaving. Maybe some feathers and beads on the hanger to finish. Hmmmm...... 

Grade 3 have also completed a weaving task, this time using a paper plate as the loom and a cup for the body. Some bling, gold paint pen and feathers create peacocks with personality! 

Grade 4 are almost all done with their 'Storm Boy' inspired pelicans. This project has included tinting paint; printing with gelli plates, bubble wrap and a texture comb; and using watercolour paint and cling wrap on blue paper. 

Grade 6 have been working on their modelling skills using plasticine.
