St Mary MacKillop

St Mary MacKillop's feast Day is on 8 August; Mary had a simple yet extraordinary saying and invitation to

"Never see a need without doing something about it”.

It is a phrase the children in our school know well and each year it asks something new of us.

Across our school community, this spirit is alive in many ways. We see it in the students who choose compassion over indifference, in our teachers who nurture both faith and justice, and in our entire school community that continues to place dignity, relationship and service at the heart of all they do, particularly in their generosity and compassion with St. Vinnies Blanket drive and Caritas fundraising. These every day moments remind us that Mary MacKillop’s legacy is not just confined to history, but it is alive in each of us.  This year as we remember St. Mary MacKillop on her feast day, we pledge to continue her legacy every day.

"Never see a need without doing something about it”.

Bishop Rene

We have included for your reading and praying, the first Pastoral letter of Bishop Rene to the people of Sandhurst. Bishop Rene was installed last Thursday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Bendigo.  Our very own Father Nathan had a very important role as Master of Ceremony; we are very proud of Father Nathan.

Catholic Education Staff Spirituality Day

This Wednesday all staff from our Catholic schools are participating in the Staff Spirituality Day.  There is no school for the children. Our staff will be at Galen to participate in the workshops.

Illness

At present we have a high number of absentees due to illness.

We have coughing, sore throats, headaches, ear aches, runny noses, green noses, sneezing and gastro in the school. Whole families appear to be impacted at a time with the illness.  If your child has any or some of the above, please keep them home, this avoids infecting others.

Foundation Grandparents Day

Wednesday week 12th August our Foundation area celebrates Grand Parents Day.  A liturgy will be held at 9.15am in the hall.

Dance Competition

Over the past few weeks our dancers have been preparing a routine for an upcoming dance competition in Albury. Our dancing group will perform on Thursday 13th August.  We are very excited for them to have this experience on stage.

AFL 9's

Today we have a group of Grade five & six students competing at Hume Regionals AFL 9's championships - we wish them well.

Have a great week everyone.
