Grade 6 News

The Grade 6 sustainability leaders along with some of our year 6 students had a wonderful opportunity to participate in a community tree planting day at the North Wangaratta Reserve on Friday 24th July. Alongside students from several local schools, they worked together to plant native trees to help improve the biodiversity of the reserve. It was fantastic to see our students enthusiastically contributing to the local environment and taking pride in making a positive difference to our community.

Thanks to the generosity of the Rural City of Wangaratta Council, we also received some native trees to take back to school. These trees will soon be planted around our school grounds, leaving a lasting legacy for future students while creating additional habitat for local wildlife.

In the classroom, we continue to enjoy our class novel, Once by Once. Through the eyes of the main character, Felix, students are gaining a deeper understanding of this significant period in history while developing empathy, critical thinking and thoughtful discussion skills.

In Mathematics, students have begun exploring number patterns and have been introduced to the exciting concept of algebra. They are learning how to recognise patterns, use variables to represent unknown values, and write simple algebraic expressions and rules. It has been wonderful to see students embrace the challenge and discover how algebra helps us describe and predict mathematical relationships.
