International Students' Day

International Students' Day

On 17th November international students were welcomed to join me for lunch to recognize students globally and celebrate the diversity of our students. At Glen Eira College, we also see this as an opportunity to support students making their own decisions on what practices have been beneficial or will be beneficial to their studying abroad experiences.

This was the very first gathering for most international students due to Coronavirus. Students also reached a collective agreement that it’s critical for schools to have a diverse student body as both local and international students can “meet and learn about each other’s culture.” One of the Year 11s also expressed that the best thing they’ve experienced so far is that they “make so many friends from different countries”. The group also pointed out some unique events they have experienced, like room changes for every subject, Free Dress Day, the variation of uniforms, different sorts of clubs, etc, at GEC that they might not have experienced in their home countries. A few volunteers have put their hands up to show willingness to contribute to the enrichment of the Program.
