Alumni News
This term, 2009 alum Joel Rawicki returned to GEC to inform and inspire the Year 11 Health and Human Development students.
Joel is a Paramedic for Ambulance Victoria.
He shared his career journey with the students and taught them the key skills to respond in an emergency situation. The Year 11s got to put their CPR skills into practice and look inside an Ambulance van.
Year 11 students found the session interesting and engaging and were particularly intrigued by the mental health struggles of first responders, and how this can lead to them leaving the profession early in their careers.
A big thank you to Joel for taking the time to come back to his old high school to impart his knowledge to students.
More alumni involvement this term included Noah Loven (Class of 2020) presenting at the Year 12 Valedictory.
Noah shared his best advice with the graduates, encouraging them to stay in touch with their peers, pursue their passions with determination and be confident to stand up for what they believe in. He stressed the importance of carrying the values, diversity and acceptance that the students have learnt at GEC with them into their futures.
Thank you, Noah, for your support of GEC.
