Year 7 Dance Celebration

On Wednesday 15th November we held the annual Year 7 Dance Celebration!

During term 4, Year 7 students explored different dance styles and then worked in small groups to create their own dance.  They were also taught a range of set dances.

Students performed their dance, with all Year 7s as the audience and three VCE dance students as guest judges.

Certificates and ribbons were awarded to the top three dance groups.

Third place: Otis, Harper, Brody, Milan (7C)

Second Place: Conventional Congregation (7B)

Winners: The Hood Girls and the Good Girls (7A)

Huge congratulations to our winners, The Hood Girls, and the Good Girls.

Well done to all the students who took part on the day and a huge thanks to the VCE students, staff and additional helpers who helped to run this event!

Teenage Issues Peer Workshops

Year 10 Teenage Issues students have been learning about the impact of body image and social media on mental health. Students then researched, developed and created a workshop for Year 8 students to develop strategies to overcome issues related to mental health within this topic.

Year 10 students hosted eight workshops throughout the term, delivering their workshop to all Year 8 students.

Year 8 students reported that it was a helpful insight into these topics with good suggestions for strategies to implement to avoid negative mental health.

Many thanks to all the Year 8s who participated and well done to the Year 10 students for delivering Teenage Issues, first successful peer workshops!

Congratulations Liam

Liam Iseya-Louey from Year 10 was recently granted a scholarship by the Australian Taekwondo Victora to compete in Junior Sparring (fighting) next year in Feb 2024 at the US Open Championships - Taekwondo to be hosted in Nevada, USA.

He is currently part of the Victorian Team under the Performance Pathways Program and has had a difficult journey where he suffered a bilateral partial pars fracture in his spine (L4) back in May 2023.  A condition which potentially would have been career ending to sports and physical activity however he persevered, managing to heal over 5 months and bring himself back to a competitive level!

This will be his first international competition to build and gain experience, having missed our during the COVID years.  He is excited for the experience and a great start to the 2024 year!

Congratulations Liam!

Congratulations Ella and Poppy

Ella (Year 12) and Poppy (Year 11) recently competed very successfully in the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation National Championships, which was held in Melbourne in late November (overlapping with year 11 exams).

Ella and Poppy competed in a number of dance and cheer events, including as a dance double in Pom and Jazz dance styles, Senior division. They came third in Pom and first in Jazz, making them the National Champions for Jazz (Senior). Amazingly, they were wild card entries for both sections, and competed against the teams who won the qualifying round. They also achieved third place in Senior Pom (petite team) and placed second in Open level 4 Cheer All Girl in a section that included small and large gyms from all around Australia.

Congratulations girls!
