Year 4 News
It has been another busy and exciting week in 4ZK!
As readers, students have continued to make connections between our reading of The Wild Robot and the world around us. Our novel has provided many opportunities to think deeply about wild animals, humans, relationships and the natural environment.
As writers, students are now bringing together their learning from English and Inquiry as they prepare for their final persuasive writing task: “Should Humans Leave Wild Animals Alone?” Students will draw on our Inquiry learning, The Wild Robot and the persuasive techniques we have been developing throughout the term to create a well-reasoned and convincing argument.
As mathematicians, we have begun our Decimals unit for the second time, giving students another opportunity to build confidence and strengthen their understanding. We are focusing on decimals to two decimal places, including partitioning, renaming, comparing and ordering decimals. Students will also apply their understanding to real-life contexts such as money, elength, mass and capacity.
We also celebrated the special people in our lives, including our wonderful dads and father figures. It was lovely to see students take the time to recognise and appreciate the people who support, care for and encourage them.
A Farewell to Liam
Last week, we said a short but very special farewell to Liam and the Denes family as they prepare to make the move to Perth. We are so grateful for the wonderful time we have shared with Liam and will certainly miss having him as part of our 4ZK family.
A very big thank you to the Denes family for the beautiful lunch they provided for our class. It was such a thoughtful way to celebrate Liam and create one more special memory together.
We wish Liam and his family all the very best for their new adventure in Perth!
As we moved through another busy week, we were incredibly proud of the students who continued to engage with their home learning, chck in with their families and take responsibility for staying connected to their learning.
