Year 1 News

There are only two more weeks of Term 3 left, and we can’t believe how quickly this term has gone! It has been a busy and exciting few weeks in year 1, and we have loved seeing everyone continue to learn, grow and challenge themselves.

Thank you to all the fathers and special father figures who joined us for our Father’s Day Morning to celebrate this special occasion! It was wonderful to have so many of you in our learning spaces, spending some quality time learning, creating and sharing a special morning together. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

As inquirers, we have been learning about the Design Process and how designers turn ideas into solutions! We explored the different stages: Ask, Think, Plan, Build, Test and Improve, and worked collaboratively in groups to begin thinking about, planning and developing our own designs for Habitats. We shared ideas listened respectfully, discussed the needs of our chosen habitat and created plans showing what the habitat will look like and the materials we will need. We are excited to bring these designs to life!

Last week, we also had a very special farewell for Eliza in 1CW as she begins an exciting new chapter in Perth! While we are very sad to see Eliza leave our school community, we know she will do amazing things and have lots of wonderful adventures in Perth. We will certainly miss her smiling face, kindness and enthusiasm! A big thank you to Candice and Dion for generously providing a delicious lunch for 1CW to celebrate her farewell. Eliza also shared a map of Australia with the class and showed everyone the route she and her family will be travelling as they make their way to Perth. It was such a lovely way to celebrate her time with us and wish her well on her next adventure! We will miss you, Eliza!
