STEM Girl Power Camp

Year 10 student Emily was selected to participate in the Department of Education’s 2026 STEM Girl Power Camp, held in Brisbane from 18–22 May.

Emily joined 60 Year 10 students and 10 teachers from across Queensland for a week of STEM workshops, networking opportunities and hands-on learning experiences. Students explored STEM pathways through activities in robotics, quantum technologies, biodiversity, biomedical research, engineering, mathematics, biology and virtual reality.

The camp also gave students the opportunity to meet inspiring STEM role models, work with researchers and develop their leadership, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills.

As a 2026 STEM Ambassador, Emily will now help organise and deliver a STEM event during National Science Week in Term 3 to inspire other students to consider STEM subjects and careers.
