Hello and welcome to this edition of our school newsletter.
Well, as always, plenty of great things happening at the Gap State High School. So, be sure to read the rest of this newsletter.
A couple of things that I wanted to share with you today.
At the end of this term, I'm going to be embarking on an educational tour to New Zealand, particularly Oakland, and I'm heading over with five other colleagues from Brisbane schools. I will be particularly looking at how those schools do student to teacher feedback and what they learn through their instructional rounds, and I'm so excited to bring that back here and evolve the work that we're already doing in student feedback and our instructional rounds to improve teaching and learning for our students.
Also, I wanted to inform you that I've been very lucky to be selected into a project, which is the Metro North principles project and we're exploring ways to stretch and grow our top end students to improve the excellence in our region as the highest performing region in the state.
We feel it is our duty as corporate citizens to really develop some programs to assist our colleagues across the whole state to do that better and provide opportunities of excellence for students in their schools.
Across this year I have been so fortunate to be working with three incredibly wonderful young people Preen, Sahana and Mitch. Every Wednesday we meet to talk about how we can translate the explicit improvement agenda of our school into a poster that's fit for purpose for students to connect to and link to. They have done some outstanding work and met with many stakeholders and we're getting really close to producing that poster and very grateful for one of our media art students who's going to help us design and publish that poster. So, stay tuned for that when it gets resolved.
Finally, I've been involved in listening to leadership speeches, leadership interviews from our future senior captains. As you know, we run our student leadership program from financial year June to June. And it's coming to an end for our current year leaders. And we're looking forward to inducting our brand new senior captains very shortly at the beginning of next term. So, stay tuned for the names of the students who have been successful in winning those positions. I'm incredibly proud of the 11 students who put up their hands, had the courage to write applications, do speeches in front of their peers, and attend interviews to be part of that selection process. It's a great school to work at, and the students here make it an amazing job every single day.
So, thanks so much for all you do to support your young person to be a great human at the Gap State High School.
