Y5: Sovereign Hill Camp

Year 5 students had an exciting and memorable camp experience at Sovereign Hill from 12–14 August. The three-day camp provided students with opportunities to explore, learn, build friendships and create wonderful memories with their classmates and teachers.

On the first day, students explored Ballarat, visiting the Ballarat Tramway Museum, the Eureka Centre and the Ballarat Art Gallery. In the evening, they enjoyed the spectacular AURA show, which was a wonderful way to end an action-packed first day.

On Day 2, students immersed themselves in the history of Sovereign Hill. They enjoyed gold panning, explored the underground mine tours and learnt about what life was like for children during the era. Students also experienced a theatre show in the evening, adding another memorable highlight to their day.

One of the most valuable aspects of the camp was the opportunity for students to spend time together outside the classroom. Staying at camp allowed them to strengthen friendships, develop independence and enjoy quality time bonding with their friends and teachers.

The camp concluded with a visit to Ballarat Wildlife Park, where students had the opportunity to see and learn about a variety of Australian wildlife. Although the weather was cold and there was some rain throughout the camp, it certainly did not dampen the students' enthusiasm or camp spirit. Their excitement, positive attitude and willingness to participate made the camp a truly enjoyable and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
