Y12: Chemistry Students Explore Spectrometry at Swinburne

Our Year 12 VCE Chemistry students recently visited Swinburne University of Technology to participate in a Unit 4 Masterclass focused on spectrometry and spectroscopy.

Throughout the session, students explored the analytical techniques used to identify unknown substances. They were guided through each process, learning how to interpret spectra and use the data to determine the identity of a sample.

The masterclass gave students valuable insight into the practical applications of the concepts they are studying in Unit 4, while providing first hand experience with the advanced technology used in scientific research and industry.

It was a highly worthwhile experience that strengthened students' understanding of key analytical techniques ahead of their final assessments.
