Y6: Rayhaan Makes a Difference

Islamic College of Melbourne student Rayhaan Rahman has turned his love of soccer into an opportunity to help others, raising $514 for the Cancer Council through a fundraiser he organised at Laverton FC.

Rayhaan created ‘Kick Goals Against Cancer’ with a simple dream: to use the sport he loves to make a difference for people affected by cancer.

Throughout the day, he spoke with families around the grounds, promoted the fundraiser between matches and encouraged others to contribute. With the backing of his family, teammates and the Laverton FC community, that idea became a successful fundraising effort.

Rayhaan’s work has also been recognised by the Maribyrnong & Hobsons Bay Star Weekly, which recently featured his story.

Giving to others and supporting those in need is a strong virtue in Islam, and it is encouraging to see Rayhaan putting this into practice through an initiative of his own.

We hope this marks the beginning of a long fundraising journey for Rayhaan, insha’Allah, and that his example encourages other young people to look for ways they too can make a positive difference.
