Foundation

All of the Foundation students have been doing an excellent job of learning lots of different things over the last couple of weeks. There's been a lot of practise of our production in preparation for the big performance next week. In preparation for production we ask that all the students come to the theatre with a drink bottle and we ask that they have their dinner prior to the performance. It is a big couple of late nights, so we anticipate that there will be some very tired Foundation students next week. 

Literacy

We continue our work in phonics with sounding out and segmenting words using sounds we have learnt. We are becoming experts at doing this! The phonic mats have been a very popular resource in the Foundation classrooms this year. A big thank you to all of the parents who helped make them in Term 1.

Our letter formation during handwriting sessions has been fantastic and we are all doing an excellent job of placing our letters on the line. During Literacy sessions, we have been reading and discussing texts that feature characters making not so great choices and writing sentences in response to them, often drawing on our own life experiences. We have also been enjoying reading with a partner during fluency pairs.

Numeracy

We have been learning all about shapes; their names, their attributes and finding them within the environment. We have enjoyed making shapes, manipulating them and creating artworks with shapes.
