School Council

School Council Update
It’s been an exciting and productive time for School Council, with a number of important initiatives underway across our school community.
Community Engagement- Vision & Values
A key focus we discussed at the May School Council meeting is a review of the school’s vision and values, to make sure they continue to reflect our community and what we want for our children as learners and people. As part of this process, we will be inviting parent and carer input through a small focus group. If you would like to express interest in being involved, or would like more detail, please contact us via the Heathmont East School Council email address (4819-schoolcouncil@schools.vic.edu.au). We would love to hear from a broad cross-section of our community as part of this important work.
Community Engagement- State Election Candidates
As a reminder at next week’s school production on Monday, we will be welcoming two of the local candidates for the upcoming State election — [Rachel Halse – Labor] and [Nick McGowan – Liberal]. This is a great opportunity for them to experience our school community. We kindly ask all families to ensure any interactions reflect the respectful, inclusive and child-focused values of our school, so the evening remains a positive experience for our children, families and visitors. Most importantly good luck to all our children for the two nights, we cant wait to see it!
Works Underway
Around the school grounds, there is a real sense of momentum, with works already underway on the demolition of the cottage and main building. It’s exciting to see this long-anticipated project begin, marking an important milestone in improving our learning environment for our children.
Thankyou
Finally, School Council would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Kim Holmes for her contribution during her time on Council. Kim has played an important role in supporting the school, teaching our children and has helped shape a strong foundation through her work around High Ability and commitment to our community. We are grateful for the legacy she leaves behind and wish her all the very best in her new role.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support of our school and community.
On behalf of school council
Matt McKean
