Year 5/6 News

We have passed the halfway point of Term 2, and 5/6 has continued to be a busy place full of learning, creativity, teamwork, and fun! Students have continued to challenge themselves across all areas of learning and should feel proud of their efforts so far this term. Our Grade 5 students also attended a high school incursion presentation by Simonds College and Academy of Mary Immaculate, helping them begin to think about the transition to secondary school and what to expect in the years ahead.
In Literacy, we have continued reading Tom Appleby, Convict Boy and exploring morphemes, including prefixes and suffixes. In Writing, students have continued developing their sentence structure skills by adding more detail to their writing through noun groups and circumstances.

In Inquiry, we have been unpacking our Big Question for the term, How have past events shaped Australia today, and what might this mean for our future? Students have been exploring how important historical events and decisions continue to influence Australia’s society, culture, and way of life today.
